About this data

The world balance is the International Olive Council's estimate of production and consumption, with the European Commission's and the USDA's, as OliveTerm compiles them. A campaign runs from October to September.

The balance is production minus consumption: it is not a change in stocks, as trade and stocks are not in it. A campaign without a consumption figure has no balance, and a figure not held is a dash, never a zero.
