About this data

The weather is read at one representative olive-growing point in each region, from Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0), and computed each morning. Rain and temperature are the 30 days to the date against the 2019–2024 normal for the same window; the water balance is that rain less the reference evapotranspiration; soil moisture is the model's 3–9 cm layer; the heat peak is the highest maximum in the six-day forecast.

The conditions score (0 to 10, 6 a normal season) weighs rain, heat and soil moisture against the norm by the crop's phase. It reads conditions, not the crop: it is not a yield estimate. A region not refreshed for ten days shows as no data. Boundaries: Natural Earth.

Growing conditions
Rain, heat and soil moisture against the 2019–2024 norm for this time of year, weighted by the crop's phase. Computed daily from weather models; it reads conditions and is not a crop forecast. Classes: under 2.5 critical, 2.5–4.5 poor, 4.5–6.5 moderate, 6.5–8 good, 8 and over excellent.
Rainfall vs normal
Rainfall of the 30 days to the date as a percentage of the normal total for the same window, the 2019–2024 mean. 100% is normal, 50% is half the usual rain. When the normal is under 15 mm the percentage says little, so those regions read as dry season rather than as an anomaly.
Temperature vs normal
Mean temperature of the 30 days to the date minus the 2019–2024 mean for the same window. Positive is warmer than normal. Heat weighs most during flowering and the oil fill.
Water balance
Rain of the 30 days to the date minus the FAO-56 reference evapotranspiration (ET0) of the same days: what the atmosphere took against what fell. A summer deficit is the season; the signal is how deep it runs and when autumn turns it.
Soil moisture
Volumetric water content of the 3–9 cm soil layer on the date, from the weather model's land surface scheme, not a probe. Summer is dry by design: the word beside the figure reads it against the season.
Heat peak forecast
The highest daily maximum over the six days after the date, in the 7-day forecast issued that day (the issue day itself is left out). Days at 38 °C or more are counted; at 41 °C or more a few of them cost oil during the fill. On a past date this is the forecast that was issued then, as recorded; no forecast is rebuilt for a day that has none.
