Royal Decree 84/2021 sets 31 October as the last date on which the marketing standard can be approved for it to apply to the 2026/27 harvest. MAPA has said it is accelerating the file to meet it.
Once approved, the threshold test runs on the new crop estimate and the carry-in. If available supply clears 120% of the six-campaign average, a share of production is withheld — which would remove volume from a market that is currently well supplied.
