Royal Decree 84/2021 sets 31 October as the last date on which the marketing standard can be approved for it to apply to the 2026/27 harvest. The draft Order went through public hearing from 23 July to 13 August.
Approval of the Order is only the first step. Planas said in Jaén on 1 October that the decision to withhold oil, and the share withheld, will be taken in the first fortnight of November by resolution of the Dirección General de Producciones y Mercados, once the carry-in at 30 September is known. That decision has a record of its own in this calendar.
The threshold test runs on the new crop estimate and the carry-in: if available supply clears 120% of the six-campaign average, about 1,844,000 t, a share of production is withheld from the market.
