Turkish olive oil exports fall 53% as exporters seek a larger EU quota

By OliveTerm Research Desk·November 5, 2026

The association expects a large 2026/27 crop after olive oil shipments more than halved in the first nine months of 2026.

Türkiye exported 15,700 tonnes of olive oil in January–September 2026, down 53% from the same period a year earlier. Revenue fell 48% to $82.1 million, according to Aegean Olive and Olive Oil Exporters' Association figures cited in Zeytin.NET's 27 October report.

Association president Emre Uygun wants the EU to raise Türkiye's olive oil quota, which the association puts at 100 tonnes, to at least 60,000 tonnes. He is also seeking relief from additional US tariffs and better UK access through ongoing trade talks, ahead of a 2026/27 crop the association expects to be large.

The wider olive export sector, including table olives, olive oil and related products, shipped 87,000 tonnes worth $273 million in the nine months. Both totals were 28% below January–September 2025. Black table-olive shipments fell 14% to 48,100 tonnes; green olives declined 19% to 14,400 tonnes.
